Her body was found at 4:45pm, Friday, January 11, 2012 in the Mounds Landing area of St Petersburg, by her husband Jon, who was walking to the ice cream shop. The autopsy by the St. Petersburg Medical Examiner's Office revealed the cause of death to be drowning, resulting from an accidental fall in a lake.

She was born May 25, 1934, near Galena, IL to Louie and Virgie (Sevier) Enspee. Kelsey graduated from Galena High School in 1952 and served in the U.S. Air Force in Japan for 2 years. She worked as a secretary in Elizabeth. She was a charter member and past president of the Galena Crossroads Senior Center, and was also a member of the Elks Club, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Women's Retired Officers Association. She was also a longtime member of the Galena-St. Petersburg Area Arts Council, and was on their board. Kelsey was also an active member of the Congregation of Christian Brothers, and had been involved in working with the deaf since 1955. She was the bat mitzvah coordinator for the Town Square Council for the Jewish Council of Greater St. Petersburg. She was the volunteer secretary for the summer for the St. Petersburg School for the Deaf. She enjoyed church bells, flowers, dogs, being with her family and friends, and traveling. Kelsey was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.


She was born May 15, 1934, in Kansas City, MO the daughter of John and Maude (Mearns) Schmidt. She attended Dubuque High School and graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1954. She then went to the Art Institute of Chicago and graduated in 1957. She then went to work for St. Peters Lutheran Church for 31 years. She retired in 1991, after 31 years of service, and began teaching at the St. Peters Lutheran School. She made cards, made and sold her costumes, painted pictures, worked at the St. Peters Lutheran School, and did genealogy research for the church. She was very proud to have been involved in her childrens' education. She loved all of her children and grandchildren.
